Crooked Lake

48 acres in the Qu’appelle Valley north of Grenfell and near Cowessess First Nation. The slope seepage fen fed by underground springs promotes lush, varied vegetation, and contains unique and rare native plants. Site includes a saline alluvial plain, cattail marsh, steep valley slopes, a river oxbow, and several vegetation communities. 22 species of lichens have been recorded, including two rare species. Tree species found here include Manitoba maple and balsam poplar. Many species found on this property are found nowhere else in the Qu'Appelle Valley.
