On June 10, 2022, TLSN members Nettie Wiebe, Jim Robbins, and Will Robbins hosted a land sharing event at their farmstead near Delisle, SK. We had three school groups from Saskatoon join us for the day, and were surprised and honoured to have Debbie Baptiste, mother of Colten Boushie, in attendance as well.
Elder and Knowledge Keeper Matilda Lewis opened the day with a prayer, and representatives from the Office of the Treaty Commissioner, the Treaty Land Sharing Network, and the Wiebe/Robbins family spoke to the importance of sharing land as treaty intended before Elder Lewis guided us on a walk of the land.
A highlight of the day was the music and dancing by Dallas Boyer and his father, accompanied by the Creeland Dancers. The day wrapped up with participants imparting insights and reflections in an emotional sharing circle where the Baptiste family said they experienced some healing by participating in the day’s event.
